This module is intended for nurses in primary and
secondary care who deal with skin-related problems on a regular basis.
Educational Units:
The module includes six educational units. Each unit includes educational
text and a number of reflection points which will contribute to the formative
assessment. The education units are as follows:
:: Nursing management of patients with psoriasis

Nursing management of patients with eczema
::
Nursing management of patients with acne vulgaris and acne rosacea
::
Nursing management of patients undergoing minor surgery and skin cancer
::
Nursing management of patients with skin infections and infestations
::
Principles of wound healing
Theory will be applied to practice by attendance
at clinical placement.
CATS Points:
This module carries 45 CATS points. It can be studied as a single module or as part of the Diploma in
Professional Practice: Dermatology. It was
set up as part of the acute and critical care specialist pathway within the
WNB Framework for Continuing Professional Education for Nurses, Midwives and
Health Visitors.
Length of Module:
6 months including 3 study days
